Stop, Start Service
We make starting or ending service easy with simple, streamlined steps. Whether you’re moving in or moving on, we’re here to ensure a smooth transition.
* ATTENTION * – Our move in and out forms are currently down for maintenance. If you are moving, please contact our Consumer Services department at 319-377-1587.
Are You Moving?
Please allow 72 hours for processing your request. You will receive a confirmation email from a New Services Representative when your request is completed.
Moving Out
If you are moving out of Corridor Energy Cooperative’s service area log in or create a SmartHub account. It is important to keep us updated with your current address to ensure that you will receive future payments of capital credits. As a former member of Corridor Energy Cooperative, you are entitled to a portion of the profits earned in the form of capital credits. Your share of the margin is determined by the amount you paid for electrical service. You are notified by mail of your share of the margins for the previous year when an allocation has been made.

Moving In
If you are moving in to Corridor Energy Cooperative’s service area, please provide your billing information here. Corridor Energy Cooperative uses Online Utility Exchange for ID verification and a credit check. A deposit may be required based on the credit check.
New Service
If you are building in Corridor Energy Cooperative’s service territory, contact our engineering department. We will work with you and your building contractor to determine the best location for your electric service.
Corridor Energy Cooperative is not allowed to install permanent electrical service to an account until a permanent inspection release is received from the appropriate inspector. The following areas require electrical inspections:
- Linn County
- Johnson County
- City of Cedar Rapids
- City of Solon
- City of Palo
- City of Center Point
- City of North Liberty
- City of Robins
- City of Hiawatha
- City of Marion
- City of Coralville
- City of Fairfax
Some areas require a “temporary inspection” before Corridor Energy Cooperative can install a temporary service for construction. Call our office at 377-1587 or toll free in Iowa at 1-800-332-5420 for more information regarding electrical inspections and specific.
Charges
Adverse Construction Conditions Charge
Corridor Energy Cooperative’s base installation costs for electric facilities assume installation under normal weather, soil, and site conditions. If installation is required under adverse conditions, additional charges will be applied.
Adverse construction conditions include snow, freezing rain, ground frost, extreme cold, or unusually muddy or rugged terrain. These adverse conditions are most prevalent between November 15th and March 15th. Projects that are ready for construction by October 31st will be completed without adverse construction conditions charges. All projects that are ready after October 31st may be subject to additional charges based on existing conditions at the time of installation.
In cases of rocky soil conditions, costs will be based upon our actual costs incurred and may be higher than the adverse conditions charge.
The following conditions must be met for your project to be considered ready for Corridor Energy Cooperative to schedule installation of electric facilities:
- Corridor Energy Cooperative has received a signed Electric Service Facility Service Application Agreement and/or a signed extension contract and any required payments.
- Customer has met all the requirements on the extension contract for extensions.
- Customer has met all the requirements for site readiness noted on the back of the Electric Facility Service Application Agreement.
- All applicable permits or inspections have been approved and released by the appropriate parties.
If you have any additional questions regarding these adverse construction conditions charges, please contact our office at (319) 377-1587 and ask for the appropriate line superintendent for your service area.
Idle Service Charge
If you no longer need electricity at your location but want to keep your service, there is a monthly idle service charge (facility charge + kVa minimum) to have equipment ready to be energized upon your request.
Transformer Charge
A monthly charge of $0.11 per kVa will be charged for required or requested transformer services greater than or equal to 75 kVa.
Electric Service Codes
If your building project involves the area around your electric meter, overhead power lines or underground power lines, contact Corridor Energy Cooperative before you begin. This will avoid unnecessary expense and safety hazards by correcting a problem before it happens.
It is important to know the following safety codes before you begin your project:
- Electrical safety codes prohibit meters to be located on decks or closed-in porches. The meter, underground and overhead lines, transformers, and pedestals must be accessible to Corridor Energy Cooperative at all times.
- Underground electric lines cannot run under decks, concrete or home additions, etc.
- When installing a fence, the fence should not be installed directly over underground electric lines and should not block access to electrical equipment.
- Planting trees under overhead electric lines is discouraged. As trees grow, they can potentially grow into electrical lines; causing blinking lights and outages. There are also certain restrictions regarding overhead lines near a swimming pool.
- Whether installing a fence or planting trees/shrubs, you should check your property for easements that may restrict where the tree or fence can be placed. Planting should not limit accessibility to electrical equipment.
If you have any questions regarding your electric meter, please call 377-1587 or toll free in Iowa at 1-800-332-5420 to speak with our engineering department.
